Alicia Jade Lochard received her B.A., magna cum laude, from Simmons College in Boston, MA. In addition to her work in the Africana Studies department, Alicia is also pursuing a graduate certificate in Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies (GSWS) at Penn. Her research interests include: African American history and culture, Black feminist and queer studies, public history and memory. Recently, her research projects have explored on the relationship between violence, family / kinship, knowledge production, and intimacy in Black women’s lives and communities. Alicia is a member of the Penn GSWS Graduate Advisory Board and the Black Cultural Studies Collective, a working group led by graduate students in English and Africana Studies.
