For this year’s Special Lecture in African Studies, the former President of South Africa, Kgalema Petrus Motlanthe, delivered his speech: "Navigating the Future: Democracy, Progressive Politics and Inclusive Development in Africa - The Sierra Leone Experience". The lecture was heard by an enraptured audience at the Perry World House in the World Forum auditorium. A private dinner in honor of Kgalema Petrus Motlanthe followed to close out the night.
