Jennifer Hasty

Jennifer Hasty is a cultural anthropologist specializing in media, politics, and corruption in West Africa, specifically Ghana.  Her book, The Press and Political Culture in Ghana explores culturally-inflected styles of journalism at state and private newspapers in the context of democratization in the late 1990s.  She has published articles on media, popular culture, politics, and diaspora issues in Cultural Anthropology, Public Culture, Ethnography, Africa Today, and Ghana Studies.  She is currently serving as a Fulbright Specialist on media and electoral politics, in collaboration with the Africa Center for International Law and Accountability, an NGO based in Accra, Ghana.
