Samiha Rahman was PhD student and William Fontaine Fellow in the departments of Africana Studies and Education, Culture, and Society at the University of Pennsylvania. She received her BA in History and Ethnicity & Race Studies at Columbia University.
Prior to beginning her doctoral studies, Samiha worked with middle and high school aged youth of color in New York City and Philadelphia as a writing teacher and afterschool program director. Her dissertation research focuses on a community of African American Muslim youth who pursue transnational migration and Islamic education in Senegal.
