The Race and Sports event returns in 2025 thanks to a partnership between the Wharton Coalition for Equity and Opportunity, the Center for Africana Studies, and the Wharton Sports Analytics and Business Initiative (WSABI).

Join us on April 24, 2025 at 5:30 p.m. ET, for the annual Race & Sports event, hosted at the Wharton School in Jon M. Huntsman Hall, Room 260. This year, we are honored to welcome Professor Jeremi Duru, a leading voice in sports, business, and social justice, for an in-depth conversation with Professor Kenneth Shropshire.

Professor Duru, an expert in sports law and diversity, will discuss key themes from his book, Advancing the Ball, including the evolution of the Rooney Rule—a policy originally designed to increase diversity in NFL leadership. The conversation will examine the rule’s impact, successes, challenges, and opportunities for improvement.
